Director of Assets – Building Safety

My Name is Rob Gilham, Corporate Director of Strategy, Transformation and Assets.  During my career with whg I have held posts across most of the housing and corporate functions. In my current role I look after an interesting and eclectic directorate which includes our in-house maintenance function, our stock investment and asset management team, the newly created building safety and compliance directorate, and the business strategy and transformation team.

The Building Safety and Compliance role is a fantastic opportunity. We have recently created this directorate within the asset portfolio to give focus and strength to this very important area of work.

Here at whg we have a great track record in both building safety and compliance. Our approach to building safety and customer involvement has been recognised in national awards, and we are leading the way in digital technology through our high rise digital twin partnership with DEEO. It’s also important to highlight that our performance in compliance is outstanding.

All this means that our new director will inherit a strong performing directorate, although there is also a great opportunity to take this work further by strengthening our engagement with customers and strategic partners, making the most of our investment in digital technology, ensuring all our homes are safe and our customers have trust in our services.

We believe that through digitalisation and increased use of data there are opportunities to improve efficiency and provide an even better service to customers. We are looking for someone with strong technical understanding of safety who is also interested in using evidence-based approaches to review our service offer, staying on top of new legislation and good practice, and creating a first class service to our customers.
